The standard approach to floristry is to fill a bouquet with packaging. Cellophane sleeves, foam bases, synthetic ribbons, filler stems that do nothing. It looks busy. It doesn’t help the flowers.
At Mahua, the arrangement is the flowers. We use natural greenery to complement fresh blooms — that’s it. No layers of decoration competing for attention, no materials that go straight in the bin.

Plastic-Free Packaging — How It Works
Most flowers arrive wrapped in multiple layers of plastic. Plastic sleeve. Plastic bow. Plastic foam base. It’s the norm in the industry and most people don’t question it.
We questioned it early and never went back.
Every Mahua order is wrapped in recyclable paper and tied with natural jute twine. The vases, tins, and mason jars we use for in-vase arrangements are made to be kept — they outlast the flowers by years. The paper wrapping can be recycled with regular paper waste. The gift card can be recycled too.
The only thing that doesn’t last is the flowers. Which is, of course, the point.

What Is Floral Foam, and Why Don’t We Use It?
Floral foam is the green sponge you find inside most professional arrangements. It holds stems in place and absorbs water, which makes it convenient. It’s also a petroleum-based synthetic plastic that doesn’t biodegrade, can’t be recycled, and releases microplastics as it breaks down.
It ends up in landfill. Every time.
We’ve never used it. Instead, we use professional, high-skill techniques like recyclable chicken wire and precisely fitted vases to give our flowers structure and hydration naturally.
For our gift baskets, we strictly avoid foam-based “showpieces.” We integrate functional vases and hand-tied bouquets into every curation, ensuring the receiver can use and enjoy every part of their gift long after the flowers have bloomed.
